EXAMPLE 3: The Script

A stage-play that went through major expansion thanks to mythological mapping, reimagining and moving beyond confines.

A playwright developing an autobiographical story into a play came to mythological consulting to explore the bounds of reality and mythology and to release the show from the confines of memory into imagination.

Project scope and timeline: 6 months, intermittent meetings

Mythological consulting offered:

  • a means to identify underlying themes and archetypes at play in the narrative

  • a pathway for authorial choice and discernment: What themes do I want to turn up and pay off?

  • a structure through which the playwright could differentiate their personal memory from their authorial creation

  • freedom to combine and recombine and collage with themes creatively
