EXAMPLE 4: The Novel

Mapping the underlying mythological themes, mythic potentials and steps forward in a historical novel.

Challenging the assumption that any historical account can be truly objective, this author leaned into naming and actively engaging particular creative lenses to tell an historical event from the vantage point of various voices/perspectives.

Project scope and timeline: 10 months, weekly and bi-weekly meetings

How do we choose the Myths we tell?

The mythological consulting process helped this author to identify the areas of the narrative where reality and truth was contested and contestable, and, instead of ignoring this complexity, gave a means to embrace and dance with the plurality of perspectives inherent to the event.

“This process gave me the chance to collaborate with the mythologizing of history that we so often do subconsciously and unconsciously. Perhaps there’s more hope for choosing the stories we live in the future after all!”
