What is mythological consulting?

Mythological consulting is a transformative process for both individual clients and teams to develop creative project and plans. I hold a master’s degree and am a doctoral candidate in Mythological Studies from Pacifica Graduate Institute. As a consultant, I draw inspiration from comparative mythological and depth psychological modalities while integrating my combined experience over 15 years as a counselor, educator, mentor, and artist developing original work. I offer a process that begins with listening intently to a given individual or project to uncover and reveal mythological themes, archetypes (as in, core metaphors and themes to our humanity) and symbols (a representative shape, mark or character), then explore how to free or allow these themes to expand and/or transform to a new, future-reaching story.

What are some examples of this work?

For individual consultation: consulting on an artistic or professional goal (such as: “I want to finish my memoir,” “I want to turn my writing into a pilot,” or “I want to hone my pitch to an agent or studio”), a project (such as deepening extant and infusing new mythological elements into a one-person show, script, manuscript, or other project), or vocation (re)framing (such as a client’s creative branding, communication and PR, and shaping creative and vocational choices and directions).

For project-based consultation: consulting on a script, manuscript, event or other creative project. Clients may bring higher-level organizational “projects,” as well, such as developing and honing mission statement and organizational narrative, engaging professional teams to identify challenges, hopes and goals and underlying mythic opportunities for expansion. For example, where might the challenges you’re facing be found in narratives from mythic traditions around the world?

Is this therapy or life-coaching?

Though very important roles, mythological consulting is not life-coaching nor therapy. Though intuitive and receptive to underlying/overarching images, I am not a psychic reader, either. Mythological consulting offers assists clients in reading their creative endeavor or project like a living map or text, and facilitates a mythologizing process which brings the creator from unconscious to conscious myth-wielder.

How can mythological consulting help me?

For individual consultation, we begin with the client’s chosen area of focus, whether a creative pursuit or project, vocational vision or challenge, and work to map and diagnose mythological themes, then design strategic plans to step forward, finding deepened authenticity and transformation through listening to your emerging personal mythology. Short-term to long-term consultation available, depending upon client need.

For project-based consultation, we begin with a project (a script, manuscript, event, etc.) or business or organizational framework and first contextualize, identifying challenges and opportunities, then map out underlying and embedded mythological themes. From here, I tailor short and long-term consultation to the needs of the client and project: from consultation and strategic planning on the meta-level to infusing mythological consultation to a particular stage of development, I respond to the mythological needs at hand.

What are your rates?

Rates are available upon request. Based upon my rates and your needs, we will design a package tailored to your project and its scope. I offer fair and commensurate pricing tailored to the needs of your given project and budget, to be discussed in our initial consultation.
